Pre-Orders

What is a pre-order?

A pre-order allows you to reserve a comic before it is officially released. Because our pre-orders are demand-driven — meaning your purchase contributes directly to the quantity we order from the publisher — all sales are considered final at the time of purchase.

Can I cancel a pre-order?

All pre-order sales are final and non-refundable. Because each order is factored into our total quantity requested from the publisher, cancellations cannot be accommodated once a pre-order is placed.

Exception: If an item is listed as a pre-order on or after its original drop date, cancellations will be accepted only for purchases made after that drop date. If you believe your order qualifies, please contact us with your order details for review.

When will my pre-order ship?

Once we announce that a shipment has arrived safely, please allow 3–5 business days before your order ships. There is a significant amount of work that goes into every fulfillment cycle before a single package goes out the door. Our process includes:

  1. Inventory & allocation verification — We confirm that our full allocation was received and accounted for.
  2. Damage inspection — Every book is carefully examined. Any copy that does not meet our condition standards is pulled and does not ship.
  3. Bagging & boarding — Each comic is individually bagged and boarded to collector-grade standards.
  4. Arrival notifications — We send out email updates to let our customers know the books are in and orders are being processed.
  5. Packaging & shipment — Orders are carefully packed and dispatched with tracking.

We take every step seriously because your collection deserves it. You will receive a shipping confirmation with tracking information as soon as your order is on its way. We appreciate your patience — it is always worth the wait.

Can I combine a pre-order with an in-stock item?

Orders containing both pre-order and in-stock items will ship together once all items are available. If you require your in-stock items sooner, please contact us to arrange a split shipment prior to fulfillment.


Variant Conditions & Types

What condition are your comics in?

All comics shipped from DARCLIEF COMIKS meet a minimum grade of Near Mint (NM / 9.2 or better). Many of our books ship at NM+ (9.6 or better). Every book is inspected prior to packaging to ensure it meets our collector-grade standards — unread, unhandled, and pristine.

  • NM (Near Mint) — 9.2 or better: The minimum condition for all outgoing orders. Nearly perfect with only the most minor of imperfections.
  • NM+ — 9.6 or better: Exceptional copies with virtually no visible flaws. The standard we strive for on every shipment.

What is a Trade Dress variant?

A Trade Dress (TD) variant features the standard cover with the title logo, issue number, barcode, and other publisher branding. This is the version typically found in comic shops.

What is a Virgin variant?

A Virgin variant features the cover artwork with no trade dress — no logo, no barcode, no text. This showcases the full, unobstructed art and is highly sought after by collectors.

What is a Foil variant?

Foil variants feature metallic foil stamping on the cover, adding a reflective, premium finish. These are limited in print run and are among the most collectible editions we carry.

What is a Glow-in-the-Dark variant?

Glow-in-the-dark (GITD) variants use special ink that absorbs light and glows in darkness. These are extremely limited and are produced for select titles and events.


Shipping

How do you ship comics?

Every order is packed with the same care and attention we would want for our own collection. Our packaging method is determined by order size:

  • Single Issues: Hand-wrapped in bubble wrap and shipped in a bubble mailer, with each comic individually bagged and boarded for maximum protection.
  • Multi-Issue Orders: Shipped in a Gemini mailer with a rigid cardboard insert to prevent movement and protect against bending or crushing in transit.
  • Larger Orders: Packed in a tightly sealed inner box, which is then placed inside a second outer box for an additional layer of protection during shipping.

Every package leaves our facility secure, stable, and built to arrive in the same condition it was sent.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship to multiple countries. International shipping rates and delivery times vary by destination. All applicable customs fees and import duties are the responsibility of the buyer.

How long does shipping take?

Domestic orders typically arrive within 3–7 business days after shipment. International orders vary by destination. You will receive a tracking number by email once your order ships.

What if my order arrives damaged?

We take great care in packing every order, but if your comic arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the damage and packaging. We will work with you to make it right.
